How did you attract/address your audience
One of the things that we did to attract our target audience was to follow a very predictable set out of our story line as we saw that the majority of popular romantic comedy's followed the same basic storyline but took different aspects into account to make them unique.
In the creation of our media work we used a wide range of softwares, hardwares and technical equitment. The two things we used the most were the apple macs and the camera. We then used Imovie to edit our film together. However we had to use Live Type to add titles and Final Cut to put the end result together. To get the ideas for the film we watched other films on youtube and on DVDs to be inspired. We used an indie game, animation and music site called Newgrounds.com to find our soundtrack and a file sharing sound effects site called Freesound.com to get the mobile phones alarm. We finally used DeFont to get the title font that we wanted. - camera

what kind of media instutution might distrubute your media product and why?
The type of media institution that may produce our film could be a big named company like Touchstone Pictures. This is because the genre is very popular and as we have gone along with a very stereotypical representation of the genre, we could get a high budget film distributor to produce our film. Also Touchstone Pictures has produced some of the highest rated Rom-Coms of all time, such as Pretty woman and Confessions of a Shopaholic, giving them a good reputation for producing successful films.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Gender- We show the man as being more powerful than the girl in the fact that he is a big shot while she is not as well off. Also we show the man as being the one who tries to find her, rather than she find him. This shows how the man has to work to get the girl whileshe hardly needs to work at all.

Age- Both our characters are young. They are both around the same age as well. This shows the stereotype of only young people being able to find love, and that you should be the same age to fall in love (against the idea that over 45s going out with under 30s etc. )

Social Background- The woman is shown to be of a lower social background to the man, having to deal with endless bills and living in an apartment. The man is, however, very well off as he owns a house and has a secure job. This social difference is challenged by the fact we say that this pair are destined to fall in love and be together.

Race- Both leads in this film are white, which can give of a racist view that only two white people will achieve a happy love life. this is common of romantic comedy's as the majority of films from this genre show two white people, not a white and black or two black people in our western culture.

In what way does our media product use or challenge forms or conventions of real media products?
Our representation of the genre of romantic comedy is quite conventional as we use the basic ideas for the characters. We use a man and a woman who are complete opposites, a feature commonly used in rom-coms, and made the male business orientated and the female dizty. These stereotypes are very common in this genre. We also set the opening out similar to quite a few popular rom-coms. Below is an example of how our opening is conferring to the forms of a romantic comedy.
However, we created an original storyline which was quite different to the ideas of a romantic comedy, in which the man and woman meet once before the man decides to find out about her by asking her phone book contacts and not her. This is different as most rom-coms have the main pair finding each other again and again.
