In what way does our media product use or challenge forms or conventions of real media products?

Our representation of the genre of romantic comedy is quite conventional as we use the basic ideas for the characters. We use a man and a woman who are complete opposites, a feature commonly used in rom-coms, and made the male business orientated and the female dizty. These stereotypes are very common in this genre. We also set the opening out similar to quite a few popular rom-coms. Below is an example of how our opening is conferring to the forms of a romantic comedy.

However, we created an original storyline which was quite different to the ideas of a romantic comedy, in which the man and woman meet once before the man decides to find out about her by asking her phone book contacts and not her. This is different as most rom-coms have the main pair finding each other again and again.
