How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Gender- We show the man as being more powerful than the girl in the fact that he is a big shot while she is not as well off. Also we show the man as being the one who tries to find her, rather than she find him. This shows how the man has to work to get the girl whileshe hardly needs to work at all.

Age- Both our characters are young. They are both around the same age as well. This shows the stereotype of only young people being able to find love, and that you should be the same age to fall in love (against the idea that over 45s going out with under 30s etc. )

Social Background- The woman is shown to be of a lower social background to the man, having to deal with endless bills and living in an apartment. The man is, however, very well off as he owns a house and has a secure job. This social difference is challenged by the fact we say that this pair are destined to fall in love and be together.

Race- Both leads in this film are white, which can give of a racist view that only two white people will achieve a happy love life. this is common of romantic comedy's as the majority of films from this genre show two white people, not a white and black or two black people in our western culture.
